Arrest Records in Susquehanna County
Police agencies create most incident and arrest reports in Susquehanna County. Pennsylvania State Police Gibson covers a large rural area, while Forest City, Susquehanna Depot, and Montrose operate borough departments. The county sheriff has a narrower role than a full-service patrol sheriff in some states. Its duties include courthouse security, warrants, prisoner transport, Protection From Abuse orders, and court service. Ask the sheriff only for sheriff-created warrant, transport, or service records.
An arrest history is not one county file. The police narrative, intake record, fingerprint-supported PSP cycle, MDJ docket, and later Common Pleas file each describe a different event or stage. The initial charges are allegations. Prosecutors may file different charges, and a judge or jury may produce a different result. Susquehanna Arrests After Jail Closure
The Susquehanna County Correctional Facility closed effective March 28, 2025. Its former address and archived jail pages are historical, not a live roster or visitation destination. Law-enforcement RTKL requests under county Right-to-Know policy go to the District Attorney’s Office. Other county requests go to the Chief Clerk/Open Records Officer. The county accepts the standard state form in person, by mail, fax, or email and recommends email. Verbal and anonymous requests are not accepted.
Arrest Records: What They Contain
A police arrest report can include an incident number, event date and place, arresting officer, identifying data, an alleged probable-cause narrative, initial statutes and grades, witnesses, property, evidence, and the referral outcome. The receiving jail builds a different intake record. Public fields vary by facility, and Susquehanna County cannot promise that another county will publish every field.

These systems do not update in lockstep. A Susquehanna County arrest may reach the police and receiving jail before it appears in UJS or PATCH. Later, a correct court disposition may lag in the repository if identifiers do not match or reporting has not posted. An absence from UJS right after the arrest proves little. Filing time, indexing, court level, and name spelling all matter. No Susquehanna Booking Log
The lack of a local roster is a dead end only if the search stops at the old jail address. Placement staff can identify the correct custody office. The actual receiving facility owns its intake and release fields. State-sentenced people use the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Inmate/Parolee Locator instead, which updates daily and excludes county detainees. Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
An arrest entry proves that an agency took a person into custody or recorded an arrest event. It does not prove guilt. A conviction arises only from a guilty plea or verdict followed by a court judgment. The police, receiving jail, clerk, and PSP repository may all retain related data, but their documents have different scopes and access rules.

Nonconviction dissemination is restricted under Pennsylvania law. A dismissed arrest can still leave records at the originating agency and repository unless an expungement or limited-access rule applies.
